Southern Railway SW1 #404 resting at Kinston, NC in May 1971. This engine is a former Atlantic & East Carolina unit, still sporting its AEC number before being numbered Southern #1007. Fast forward to 2011 and this engine remains in service, still painted in Southern colors as #1007, on the Gulf & Ohio's Knoxville & Holston River Railroad in Knoxville, TN.
