With snow still melting on the distant mountains, Amtrak's southbound Vermonter train 55 is heading into the Waterbury, VT station with P42DC 101 is on the south end, while P42DC 146 trails five cars back.
The successor to the Montrealer, the Vermonter runs between St. Albans, Vt., and Washington, DC. Much of the northern part of the route runs along the Connecticut and White Rivers.
