Lost in the vastness of the Adirondack Park, the S&NC morning NB from Saratoga rolls along the upper Hudson River with 5 cars as viewed from an approx elevation of 1770' on the summit of Pine Mountain in the Three Sisters Range. Train is running at an elevation of 618'. You can see the Hudson (with the tracks following the river) winding northward towards its source in the distant High Peaks area to the upper left. The very distant tall peak in the upper left is Mt. Marcy, the tallest point in New York at an elevation of 5,344 ft. It's about 50-60 miles in the distance from this viewing point. I believe the flat area in upper right is the Lake Champlain area. The ex D&H Adirondack Branch pictured here ends near Mt Marcy.
