Remarks & Notes

Built for North Western Coal and Navigation (nee Alberta Coal and Railway Company, nee Canadian Pacific) in 1885, this 36" gauge 2-6-0 Mogul was one of three purchased by Canadian Pacific in 1907 for use in constructing the Spiral Tunnels on the west side of Kicking Horse Pass. When the new alignment was put into use in 1908, this steam engine and tender were scrapped of reusable parts (wheels, lamp, etc.), then otherwise abandoned here, in what is now the middle of the woods, where it has rested quietly for over 100 years now.

Could this be the #6 (or #7 or #8) in its heyday?

One of the other locomotives (NWCNC #7) is rumored to be in Sink Lake near Stephen, BC. I'd like to see a picture of that. NWCNC #8 was said to be sold to another company upon completion of the project.
