Union Pacific 4-8-4 844, built by Alco, has been on the UP's locomotive roster ever since it was delivered in 1944. After dieselization, the 844 was used on special trains and excursions. One of those special trains is seen here climbing Beaumont Hill at Cabazon, California, on November 17, 2011. The fifteen car train will tie up at West Colton Yard, 36 miles and 90 minutes (yes, 90 minutes!) ahead.
