          Remarks & Notes
Lets Keep On Pushing! Working together, an SD9 and SD35 push 115 empty coal hoppers on the Welty Branch with the Rocky Mountains in the background and Longs Peak as well. What their intentions was that they needed to push these cars up the hill in the background to make room for more stored cars brought in by the UP. Experiencing air line issues on the cars made it extremely difficult to accomplish their task. After making trips back and forth a few times, the finally got half of their train across the hill. Another added issue to this task was that it created major wheel slip on the two locomotives. One could see these units do 10 - 15 MPH and in a matter of seconds slow down as they try to get the cut of cars. After their efforts have failed, they had to cut some country road crossings. Afterward, the 4327 uncoupled from the 2959 and they both followed each other on the same track right behind one another back into Johnstown, where they would go their separate ways for the rest of the day. A total of 4,250HP was used that day, but it just wasn't for enough for the train. Overhearing the engineer on OMLX 4327, she said if they had another unit, they would have made it. All in all, they tried their best and they can try again another day. Better luck next time fellas! For more information at what happened as well, Click here to view the video
