Considering its remote location, one would have never thought Falls Cut Tunnel would have become a trouble spot. Such was not the case. In the early 1980s, the excellent swimming hole below the falls became a party spot for the locals. I am sure that the train crews and the B&O and local police departments got quite a few cases of indigestion before the practice was broken up. It was not a place to be on the tracks. Trains dropping downgrade didn't make a lot of noise, especially light helpers. On Aug. 1, 1981, a B&O trainman appears to be voicing his opinion from the caboose of an eastbound manifest as it drops downgrade.
