Q211 is about to pass the old control tower in Cowan, TN. When the NC&StL went to CTC control in 1944, all traffic between Nashville and Stevenson, AL, was controlled from this building. Here Q211 is accelerating hard because she has decided go solo up the 1.8% grade to the Cowan Tunnel, without assistance from the pushers.
