| The ten ex NYC/PC/CR that CNW bought in late 1979 worked for a year or so in road service out of Huron but were transferred along with the last of the Huron Alco's to Green Bay in early 1981. They tended to work the big yard in North Green Bay and the Fox River Valley paper making area. They also could on occasion be found in road service into Upper Michigan. This is 4243 working the east end of North Green Bay yard at Broadway Tower. Broadway controlled the west end of the double track from Tavil through Green Bay and also a crossing of the GBW along with the entrance to the east end of North Green Bay Yard. It was small and cramped for all the work that on there and generally the operators would chat out the window with you as there was hardly room for two people to be in the tower at once. The 4243 was retired on July 28, 1986 and scrapped at St.Louis Auto Shredding. |
