Remarks & Notes

During the Arab Oil Embargo of 1973-74, Chevron's big oil refinery in Richmond, CA, ran short of crude oil. To supply it with the needed crude, Chevron ran a unit oil train over UP and SP from its Utah refinery. Here the heavy train has four UP SD40-2s up front, with a similar compliment of SP locomotives cut in as helper.
