Remarks & Notes

A Santa Fe eastbound train, with caboose 999573, proceeds slowly on the north track past the derailment site located just north of Highway 138 in Cajon Pass. Heavy rain storms caused track damage and ATSF 3338, ATSF 2959, ATSF 3282 and ATSF 3279 derailed, apparently after hitting a front-end loader working in the area.
