    Remarks & Notes
Eastbound Silverton Mixed. A D&RGW K-28 leads a mixed freight along the icy Animas River, on the eastbound run from Silverton to Durango. This train has just taken water at a location known as "Tank Creek" Historically, a D&RGW wooden water tank occupied the site just about 150 yards behind this train. Although that tank was removed in 1966, it was replaced with a steel tank and this location continues to be a water stop for the tourist trains on today's Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.

The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad and the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad are all that remains of the legendary Denver & Rio Grande Western narrow gauge system. Here you'll find some of my favorites from these two beautiful railways.
