| A sucker hole opened up at just the right time and place on this otherwise mostly cloudy day to illuminate my subject. This is a westbound Union Pacific grain train on the upper level of the climb over Silver Zone Pass in eastern Nevada. The train had been visible for about an hour from this vantage point on the side of the Toano Range before getting to this point after rounding Arnold’s Loop on UP’s Shafter Subdivision. Ultra prominent 10,720 foot Pilot Peak dominates the background here, still snow clad in late April. |
