| The sounds and echoes of a heavy westbound grain train reverberate throughout Clear Creek Canyon on a warm summers day in the Tehachapi mountains. This short stretch of the Mojave Subdivision between Bealville and Cliff still contains some of the scars suffered during the major earthquake in 1952. The head end power is passing the location of tunnel 4, a short tunnel that was daylighted after being damaged during the violent quake. Speaking of the power, trailing the very faded 4579 is NS 1071 the CNJ heritage unit. |
