      Remarks & Notes
The Amtrak Veterans unit leads the Boston Section of the Lake Shore Limited up the former Boston & Albany passenger main at 5:42pm. One mile back the Lake Shore left the CSX Berkshire Sub at CP-187 and entered this single track, Amtrak controlled trackage for the final 12 miles to the Rensselaer station. This track has been passenger only since the 1924 opening of the Albany bypass and building of Selkirk Yard which eliminated the need for freight from New England to head north on this line to Albany in order to reach points west (thereby avoiding the 1.63% West Albany Grade). After Amtrak failed to pick up Albany to Boston trains in 1971, Penn Central tore this line up in 1973. After restoring the Lake Shore Limited and its Boston section in 1975, Amtrak rebuilt this line in 1979.
