| Everything that appears in this photo is history. 352 locomotives abandoned services for over 11 years and the only unit preserved decomposes slowly in Las Matas. The Talgo III also was withdrawn from circulation a few years ago and trains survivors languishing in various stations without being guaranteed the preservation of any of them.
Nor Direct railway Madrid-Burgos has fared better because for over a year is visited only occasionally by some maintenance vehicle and decommissioning seems a matter of time. Even Fontioso station is practically dismantled today almost demolished the building and raised crossing rails ...
Only we have the memory of the happy days when the historic locomotives 2000T walked indefatigable the line in charge of Talgos as the one in the photo which, from Alicante, was to Bilbao and Hendaye destinations. |
