Class Act by a Class 1: It's not everyday that you will find Class 1 freight locomotives on a passenger train, much less on a tourist train! However, for the two weekend annual visit of Thomas the Tank Engine to the Lebanon, Mason & Monroe Railroad in Lebanon, Norfolk Southern generously provided the use of GP38-3 rebuild NS 5805 to provide the motive power for the trips, giving the LM&M's regular unit, GP7 55, a much needed break, and showing how much of a class act they really are. In this classic black and white scene, NS 5805 leads an outbound Thomas trip out of Lebanon at the West Street Crossing. Thomas is on the other end, and will lead on the return trip. NS 5805 provides the muscle behind him, fulfilling the dreams of children around the area to get to ride behind Thomas the Tank Engine!
