Cumberland dawn. The city of Cumberland is just waking up but the crew of this hefty helper locomotive has already been on duty for a couple of hours, getting their engine up to operating pressure and ensuring that everything is properly lubricated. Here, they pull past the Western Maryland Depot and prepare to fill the tender cistern. Shortly, they'll tie on to the rear of a heavy coal drag at City Junction and head west toward Frostburg.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
