| La Plata, MO, is a quiet rural town of 1,500 people that still hosts a stop for Amtrak's Southwest Chief. The towns proximity to the college towns of Kirksville and Columbia draw a considerable number of riders connecting to Kansas City and Chicago. The early morning quiet is interrupted by an intermodal train made up of UPS containers and trailers. Led by BNSF 7430 and four other 6-axle GE's the train will seem to be in and out of this small town in the blink of an eye. |
