| With eight horses up front a west-bound manifest climbs the Elkhorn Grade as it crosses the Bluestone River at Cooper, WV. It also crosses the now abandoned former N&W Bluestone Branch. This old branch line goes around the mountain and joins the NS mainline at the east portal of the Cooper Tunnel. |
