Sure, it's seen better days, but finding a Rio Grande-painted unit years after that railroad disappeared into the Southern Pacific, and then the SP disappeared into the Union Pacific, is always a treat. Far from its original home, D&RGW GP40 3088 was found on March 9th, 1997, switching the yard in Bakersfield, California.
