Three steam locomotives simmer on a hot, humid late spring afternoon at St. Louis, Missouri, on June 13, 1990, in a gathering to celebrate Trains Magazine’s 50th anniversary. Union Pacific 4-8-4 No. 844, Norfolk and Western 2-6-6-4 No. 1218 and and Frisco 4-8-2 No. 1522 pose at Burlington Northern’s (former Frisco) Chouteau Yard during the National Railway Historical Society’s National Convention festivities.
