To celebrate National Train Day and SP 9010's 50th birthday, Niles Canyon Railway brought out Southern Pacific #9010, the last remaining Krauss-Maffei ML4000 diesel-hydraulic locomotive in existence. It is in the process of getting restored at the Niles Canyon Railway's restoration shops located at Brightside Yard. A lot has been done but there is still a way to go. This run marks the first time SP 9010 has been attached to a consist of passenger cars.
