      Remarks & Notes
The Cannonball is the Long Island Railroad's answer to a fast getaway. Taking you from Penn Station in New York City to the Hamptons, Amagansett, Montauk, and other towns on the Eastern end of Long Island. Here, DM30AC 510, a dual mode locomotive for operation into Penn under electric power and out to Montauk with diesel, goes through the first crossing on it's westbound journey from Montauk to New York Penn Station. Which, on the Cannonball schedule, takes a little under three hours as apposed to the grueling 4 1/2 hour run making all stops.
