| In 1997 one of the remaining holdouts for Rio Grande power was on the Ute Shuttle. This train ran from the power plant at Ute to the mine at Axial and return sometimes twice a day and occasionally running to the load outs on the Energy Spur. This shot shows the train returning to Ute with the loads from the mine load out at Axial. This was a long haul from my home in Colorado Springs but I made the trip fairly consistently in the late 90s. Scanned from a Kodachrome |
