Remarks & Notes

1271 was built by NZR Hillside in Dunedin and in 1956 was one of the last steam locomotives to enter service on NZR. After being withdrawn in 1970 and use as stationary boiler it was restored by Steam Incorporated and re-entered service in 1997. Here it is seen hauling the Ekatahuna Express north through Shannon.
