An eastbound Southern Pacific coal train twists along the Arkansas River at Hecla Junction, Colorado, over the famed Tennessee Pass Route on September 4, 1995. At the time, SP’s GE AC4400CWs were new, and the railroad put them to good use over the steep grades of the pass.
