Steam rises into cold air as fog has just about burned off on the morning of October 2, 2014. Silence is broken on Montana Rail Link’s Fourth Subdivision when eastbound BNSF MSPOLAU (Spokane to Laurel Manifest) freight thunders across the Clark Fork west of Noxon, Montana. Bracketing a set of Montana Rail Link SD45 flares (SD45-2 in MRL parlance) is a trite BNSF C44-9W and a leased UP C40-8.
