    Remarks & Notes
A Danish Railways (DSB) IR4 stands in Copenhagen Central station, The IR4 is a wide EMU, which is an electric version of the IC3 DMU. These comprise articulated carriages made of light alloy. The fleet was developed by DSB and Scandia (now a part of the Bombardier corporation) and entered service in the early 1990s. The cab design is the most notable feature of the IR4 and IC3. When two or more units are coupled together in a single train, the entire front door folds away to give a wide passage, and the rubber diaphragms at the ends form a flush aerodynamic seal. The cab is actually a separate department in the train, but the desk with the controls are mounted on the huge door, which also has the seat mounted to it. The IR4 can also couple and run in tandem with the electrical version, the IC3. Up to five trainsets can be coupled together. Although strange looking, they are very comfortable and give a smooth ride for the passengers.
