The dwarf signal tells us that we are alongside Kansas City Terminal Railway tracks at Union Station, where nameless Train 15, formerly the Kansas City Rocket, is just rolling in from Minneapolis-St. Paul behind E7A 637. The train, which will drop off its single sleeping car here, is costing the railroad almost half a million dollars annually, and all dining and sleeping car service will be gone by year’s end. By the end of 1967, the train itself will be discontinued.
