| I had a rare opportunity to high rail Rio Grande's new mainline through Spanish Fork Canyon while 'Thistle Lake' was still present. A Utah Railway coal load rambles west along the shoreline of the flooded valley that at the time was quickly draining into the Spanish Fork River. Evidence of the relocation of US Highway six can be seen along the foothills above the new right of way, Oct. 23, 1983. |
