During last years gravel season the balloon track was removed at the Palmer load-out making it necessary for the crews to make a long back up move, so the RR re-instated one of the three remaining cabooses. This year, however, they decided to put into use this shoving platform. They tried using something similar at the end of last season. I have heard many changes were implemented in the off season.
