Looking down into the Galesburg Engine Pit, one can expect to see a plethora of locomotives ranging from the simple BNSF Dash 9 or GEVO to a rare set of leased EMD power and this specific picture captures exactly that. Bathing in the early evening sun nearest to the camera are set of three BNSF General Electric units fresh off a train that recently terminated here. Quickly glancing to the left we see a 4-axle BNSF Dash 8 coupled to a "Slug" unit as well as a pair of NS units receiving fuel. Farthest from the camera sits a large amount of EMD power featuring several Geeps, including ex-BN, ex-ATSF paints, a heritage three SD40-2, and even a former UP SD40T-2, now labeled for NREX (National Railway Equipment).
