Hot Rail
The thermal effects of a recent field weld are evident on the web and top of the rail head at this new joint. The rail has just undergone an electric flash-butt welding process from a Chemetron In-Track rail welding hi-rail vehicle. This type of rail welding is very quick compared to traditional thrermite welding and was completed in less than 10 minutes.
