Not long after sunrise, we make our way east in one of the trailing 40s of an eastbound UP APL stack train out of the Port of Oakland. The photographer had boarded the train with the new crew in Stockton well before sunrise, around 4 am. The 40s on this train performed flawlessly. Tomorrow another APL stack train will head east into the Sierra Nevada over this same route.
