| Trains on Union Pacific’s Shafter Sub. in eastern Nevada are few and far between these days. Two days spent there only yielded a total of 5 trains in daylight. This huge westbound coal train was the first of 2 I shot this day. 127 coal loads weighing in at 18,161 tons running 3x2 and headed to Newmont Mining’s power plant at Dunphy, Nevada. Location is on the upper level of trackage on Silver Zone Pass. Cliffside siding is seen on the lower level of track below the head end power. |
