Most likely due to crew shortages, the D&H has combined trains 555 and 701 for the trip north from Philadelphia. Traffic on the Reading belt line has caused the train to traverse the main line through town, instead of the more usual practice of diverting to the belt line at Birdsboro or at Klapperthal Junction. Unfortunately, the D&H motive power desk has opted to place 555's three EMD's on the point, instead of the three MLW's from 701. To add insult, at least from the stand point of this photographer and his friends, the lead unit is running backwards.
