Instead, we are near the end of the Bangor & Portland branch in Martin’s Creek, PA. The branch diverges from the “Old Road”, the original Lackawanna main line, at milepost 82.57, and one leg of the branch stretches 14 miles to Martins Creek, where this photo is located. Conrail train UPS, loaded with coal for the Metropolitan Edison generating plant in Portland, is passing by Alpha yard, at one time served by the DL&W, L&NE, and PRR.
