From 1960 to 1963, Missouri Pacific and subsidiary Texas & Pacific purchased 151 GP18s, more than all other railroads combined. Last of the first-generation geeps, the 1800-hp units arrived in time to catch the simplified version of the handsome Eagle paint scheme, Cerulean blue and Isabeline grey. Short on cash, MoP ran them hard, system wide, which is why on December 17, 1964, four of them led by the 508 are making good time with westbound freight number 77 headed for Pueblo and a handoff to the Denver & Rio Grande Western.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
