      Remarks & Notes
D&H and NYC history surrounds the first Amtrak dual mode repaint as it sits just north of the Broadway overpass. It just brought Amtrak 63, the Maple Leaf, up from New York Penn. The Maple Leaf gets an engine change at Rensselaer to a regular P42 or P40. The skyline of New York's capital, Albany, is in the background. The ornate building in the foreground is the former D&H Railway headquarters building, now used by the NYS Department of education. The large field behind the engine is under development and was last used as the site of the Rensselaer High School. In the New York Central days, the field was the site of a large NYC roundhouse to support the Albany Union station which was located directly across the river and still stands. In addition, the Maiden Lane Bridge crossed the river directly behind this scene. This bridge carried the passenger main into the station. When the station was moved to Rensselaer in the late 1960's the bridge was removed and passenger trains were moved to the north(freight) bridge which is still used today and is referred to as Livingston Ave Bridge (LAB).
