          Remarks & Notes
Crossing Humanson Brook. A mixed freight behind WW&F Locomotive #9 charges across Humanson Brook Trestle en route to Sheepscot Station and eventually, Wiscasset.

The only bridge on the current WW&F Museum trackage is the little trestle seen here. The original bridge from the historic WW&F Railway was actually still intact at this location back in 2001, nearly 70 years after the railroad closed down. Unfortunately, the remaining structure was extremely fragile and was slowly being reclaimed by mother nature. It would never have supported the museum's train operations, so a replacement was deemed necessary. Luckily the museum was able to make contact with a US Marine Corp Reserve Unit from the Detroit area that was looking for a construction project as a summer field training exercise. The Marines had the manpower and the expertise to make short work of rebuilding the Humanson Trestle and by Fall of 2001, tracks were once again in place over the brook. Within a year, trains were operating where none had been since 1933! Fifteen years after it's reconstruction, Humanson Trestle continues to be a strong and durable structure, that will serve the WW&F Museum for decades to come.
