"The New NYAR Road Switcher Duo; Progress Rail PR20-B" Both brand new New York & Atlantic Railway (NYAR) PR20-B locomotives quietly idle at Fresh Pond Yard shortly before being used to switch out some cars . Built by Progress Rail, these locomotives are Tier 3 emissions compliant road switchers with 2000 horsepower. There are 12 on order and will replace NYAR's SW1001s & GP38-2s, which will eventually be "taken back" by LIRR to use for their needs. As of now 300 & 301 have been delivered.
