Amtrak's construction of the second track between Albany and Schenectady is well underway now. A work extra with 3 units (MP15's # 531 & 535 plus 520) hauls 3 flat cars with concrete ties and 48 loads of stone WB towards Schenectady. In the foreground right is a section of the second track that has been built with wood ties on both sides of the Lincoln Ave crossing. Amtrak's TLM will arrive here in the near future to place concrete ties under the welded rail laid out into the distance. As of 6-12-2016, the second track is in place up to CP-146 in West Albany. When complete it will extend to CP-156.
