| Code-lines and thoroughbreds………illuminated by the morning sun a westbound Union Pacific 'baretable' emerges from the west portal of tunnel #1, just east of Caliente, led by a pair of Norfolk Southern motors. A quiet witness to the passage of trains are the old code-line poles, the final hold outs to a by-gone era of railroading over the Tehachapi range. |
