| Surrounded by the colorful walls of the Mojave Desert's 'Grand Canyon' Union Pacific's hotshot 'Denver Z' streaks through southern California's Afton Canyon led by Missouri Pacific painted heritage unit #1982. The rails of Union Pacific's Cima Subdivision follow the contours of the Mojave River's banks through the length of the colorful canyon which stretches for roughly 8 miles in the barren Mojave Desert. Upon exiting the east end of the Canyon at Basin the eastbound shooter will find a change of scenery as it approaches the Kelso Sand Dunes. |
