Remarks & Notes

It is pretty rare that Union Pacific’s west local out of Denver ventures any further west than Rocky Spur, but on a snowy February 18, 2001, it made a trip upgrade. The three Rio Grande GP40-2s powered the local to Plainview to pick up two gons, and are seen here returning eastbound, crossing Blue Mountain Drive grade crossing west of Clay, Colorado.
