| Union Pacific’s daily Salt Lake City to Roseville manifest train is seen here rounding Arnolds Loop in eastern Nevada. The train is on a high fill here and my slightly higher perch allows the north looking photo to show the entire length of the Pilot Valley. Way out there in the distance is the tiny berg of Montello, Nevada on the Union Pacific Lakeside Sub. The train is roughly half way around the 180 degree loop. In a minute or two the train will appear on the track at the lower right corner of the image. The grade here is a steady 1% to the summit of Silver Zone Pass several miles ahead. |
