| On the western approach to the Flathead Tunnel, a 114-car empty grain train swings through the rock cut at Fisher River, approximately half way between Libby and the west portal of the tunnel. The line through the Flathead Tunnel was opened in 1970, comprising about 58 miles of new construction to relocate the former Great Northern during construction of the Libby Dam on the Kootenai River. |
