    Remarks & Notes
    Lone Star Frog Eyes

National Railway Equipment Leasing GP10 8047 is one of three locomotives that handle cars at Elmendorf, Texas', Rail Logix Alamo Junction facility. Built in May 1954 at Illinois Central GP9 9047, this engine was rebuilt into a "Paducah Rebuild" GP10 following the IC-GM&O merger, becoming Illinois Central Gulf 8047. This rebuild included chopping the nose, adding the aptly-named "frog eye" headlight and the installation of the large "yoke" air filters that made these engines so distinctive. The ICG eventually sold this engine to Mississippi Delta Railroad, as their number 8047, and from there it ended up in the employ of Nash County Railroad, where it retained the same road number, before being sold to NREX. Photographed on private property with permission and full PPE.
