      Remarks & Notes
CP/D&H train 701, empty sulfuric acid tank cars, has arrived from Baltimore at CSX’ East Side Yard in Philadelphia. The power, an all-MLW M636/C424/M636 lashup, has uncoupled from its train so the power and the cars can be combined with train 555 for the trip to Montreal. When we saw the power being combined, hopes of an MLW leader were dashed. Instead of a nice red M636, we were presented with the rear end of a drab black SD50 to be the face of the train as far as Allentown, where the runaround maneuver required to proceed north would put an M636 on the point. Unfortunately, by the time that happened, it would be dark, and the train would be in New York before the sun was up. With the Philadelphia skyline in the background, the combined power backs to its train, providing one final look at an uncoupled M636.
